Our general policy is that we do not supply customer supplied parts. This is our company policy at Performancesmith for several reasons. First, we have no way to warranty a part that we didn’t procure/provide to you. We take pride in being able to provide the very best customer service in the industry by not only selling you the correct part the first time through one of our distributor relationships but being able to always taking care of you if you have a problem in the future.
Time is valuable to not only you but us as well. Often times things are left at home, lost or forgotten so installing a customer supplied part is more time consuming than if we provide the part for you. From wire harnesses, to nuts & bolts and misc. pieces, we simply don't have the time to chase parts that have been lost or that you failed to provide at the time of your scheduled appointment. If we purchase the parts, we know exactly what else needs to go with that part to make for a successful installation so that you're happy and our installers are happy.
***That said, there are select exceptions, please reach out to us, and we will as always do our best to accommodate your needs!***
2 Replacement of Safety Items
Lets start with tires, and brakes. The industry standard for tire replacement is SIX YEARS. This means if you come in with tires date coded to 2015, you should be looking to replace your tires ASAP! This is not so that we can make more money, this is a safety issue. Brakes will be checked on EVERY MOTORCYCLE that comes into our shop. If the pads would not pass VA Inspection, then we will let you know, and will be looking to replace them. These two items are critical to not only performance, but your life as you ride.
Fluid Leaks, and other lacking general maintenance items. Whether you bring a motorcycle, golf cart, utv, or a huffy to us... if we notice something that needs addressed as it pertains to the safety of the operator we WILL let you know, and we will strongly recommend replacement/repair. Again, this is for your safety.
***If you decline any safety recommendations, you will be required to sign a safety waiver before taking delivery stating that you were notified, and declined the recommendation(s)***
3 Parts Deposit Required in Advance
We require a full parts deposit to begin the order process for your job. Our invoices/estimates are split into "Parts" and "Labor" fees. Payment for parts is due upon acceptance of the estimate, and payment for labor is due upon completion of work.
We make it very easy to pay your deposit online, or in person. Payment options for parts, as well as the parts total will be emailed once the estimate is completed. In the event that additional parts are needed beyond the initial estimate, we will reach out to you in advance, get approval, and send an updated estimate. All payments will be recorded in our system, and receipts will be given with the final invoice/payment.
4 All Work Must be Paid in Full Before taking Delivery
It's a shame that we even have to make this a policy but all work must be paid in full before we will turn the vehicle back over to you for pickup. We have a very intuitive online payment processing process that's integrated with our invoicing system to make this process as streamlined as possible. If you cannot pay for the work, your vehicle remains in our possession as collateral until you can pay for the work performed. No Exceptions.
*** 90 DAYS AFTER THE WORK IS COMPLETED, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PUT A MECHANICS LIEN AGAINST YOUR VEHICLE IN ORDER TO COLLECT PAYMENT***
5 Storage Fees/Order of Work Completed
We are a small shop with very limited space to store customers vehicles. You will be notified when your vehicle is completed, and our expectation is that you make arrangements to pick up the completed vehicle within one calendar week. If a week passes with no communication as to when the vehicle is to be picked up, or no circumstances warrant the vehicle being stored on site, you will be charged a $25 per day storage fee until picked up.
We work on vehicles in the order they come to us, with very few exceptions for parts availability, etc. If at any point the line of communication fails, and we are unable to secure payment for parts, approval for estimates/changes/etc. We will assess a storage fee of $10 per day, and your vehicle will be moved back on our schedule until we hear from you.
6 Labor Warranty
Performancesmith offers a lifetime installation labor warranty for bolt-on parts. This means that if a nut, bolt or fastener comes loose, or there is an issue with the way a part was installed, please bring the vehicle back to us and we will warranty repair it at no cost. If you damage a nut, bolt or part on your vehicle from an accident, off road use or any other way, we are NOT responsible and the warranty is void. Our warranty is only in effect for fully functioning products that did not incur any damage from any accident or negligence beyond our control. Performancesmith reserves the right to void any warranty claim based on improper use or accidental damage to any part installed.
7 Parts Warranty
Performancesmith does not provide any warranty on parts that we did not manufacture in house. Parts warranties are provided by the original manufacturer. If your parts came with a warranty registration card, you will be provided with that. Please fill out the card with your information and submit the information to the original manufacturer of the part. Most part manufacturers offer a 1 YEAR WARRANTY from product manufacturing defects. If a product is defective and has failed, Performancesmith will work with the manufacturer to have the part replaced. ***Please NOTE: All customers are responsible for any billed labor associated with replacing a failed part that has failed due to a manufacturer defect***
***LABOR RATE FOR WARRANTY WORK IS DISCOUNTED TO $75.00 PER HOUR***
